Even during the recess, we were talking to the staff of a ton of senators. Most of the time the senators' staff are interested only if someone from 'their constituency' is also affected. We always say we have a ton of folks from each state, but nothing works like a real example.
For example, when we speak to say Senator Kennedy, it helps us to present the story of folks affected by retrogression and living in say Boston, MA. That way, the staff has some incentive to look into this and get hooked immediately.
Since time is short this time, we need all the stories from each state to make our case.
As promised, we will not reveal your story to media if you do not want to.
Though there is no harm to reveal one's name in media as can be noticed by the folks featured in the Roll Call article, Philly Inquirer and News Observer.
We will just concentrate on the crux how you are suffering because of delays such that even if your boss reads this story, he will not be offended or put off (Read our members stories in the three articles I have mentioned, none of it can get the IV members in any trouble at all).
At the same time we understand that you might have reasons to remain out of media and we will fully respect that.
But please send in your stories so we have a convincing story to make our case.....

[B]The spill over from FAMILY CATEGORY can only be used starting from SEPTEMBER 01 2008. Otherwise it won't go with the interpretation of the law.
Also the spillover from EB1 (for august 2008 and anything remaining for the current year) will be applied on September 01.

I know lot of my friends still waiting for GC since last 7/8/9 years. As you can see MY PD is Oct 2001 and I got my approval email last week.
So dont think that everyone who is getting approved with old PD has bought a Sub labor.
People are waiting patiently for the queue to get clear and wait for their turn.

This is a totally wrong message someone out there put out to make people nervous. Application support centers do no have IO's. The only IO's you will meet would be at a different USCIS facility where you take appointment and stand before the counter and ask the questions.
There will be no reason why someone would meet a IO at the fingerprinting place which generally have technicians and security to monitor the process. You sit in a waiting room alongwith 100 other people, then once your name is called, you do the fingerprinting and get out of the door.
There is no time to mingle with IOs nor there will be IOs(friendly or not) who would be willing to disclose any information to you.
Some people online gloat at having pleasure to spread disinformation. this seems to be the case...

I had an infopass appointment today and the IO there told me a lot. She told me that me and my wife's namecheck and fingerprints were cleared. She also told me that the case has not been assigned and therefore she opened a Service Request for me to expedite the case (dont know if it will help). She also mentioned that there is no memo stating that the vsa numbers have been exhausted.
And believe me.. i overheard the other IOs in the saying that the immigration system is screwed up and the service centers dont know what they are doing... so guys you can see what the system thinks of itself.....
so again as i have said....sit tight and hope and pray ....

If restraints are necessary in any manner under such conditions, they should be the least restrictive type possible to remain consistent with sound security practices.
So the warden can still order restraints.

Let me add my observations here:
For people who doubt where all the money is going, remember Aman founded this organization putting his own money into this ( not in hundreds but thousands). He and some other core members has already got their green cards, but they continue to work for this cause. I also remember Aman and core members saying this "It is not about you. It is about the community. You just don't think about yourself, you work for everyone." Most of the talk points for meetings were meant for relief to the entire community, not a specific group.
For me, I had to go for a meeting alone. Initially I was disappointed, but I could handle that meeting very well, thanks to IVs training session. For those who are apprehensive about attending these meetings -- It is pretty straightforward if we follow IVs talking points and presentation style. We cover ourselves well with arguments and counter arguments during training session.
As for meeting lawmakers, it will always be a pleasant experience. This is the greatest democracy on the face of the earth. Lawmakers will lend a patient, listening ears to your issues. No worries there. Also fixes to our issues will benefit not only us, it will help this country in the long run. If you haven't met your lawmaker yet, please plan meeting them and let them know your pains. A meeting from a constituent is very valuable for these lawmakers.
A request to IV core:
It is better if IV could conduct the training in different state chapters, so that people will feel more confident and less apprehensive in meeting their lawmakers.

Hi,
I have applied for H1 this year and my OPT is valid for next 29 months.
I am working for A with OPT. Now when B has filed my H1B and if it gets approved in Oct 2008, will I be able to continue to work for A for some more time using my OPT status. I dont have immediate plans to work for B on H1 B and I would probably join them in May 2009, .
Will H1 B approval from a DIFFERENT company have any effect on MY OPT status. I know sometimes people get 2 H1bs from two companies.

Strength is in numbers and you will see the power of immigrants on 9/18. If we could reverse a visa bulletin with a rally of 350+ members and couple of hundred flowers, we will be headlines with 10000+ rally. This is going to be a historic event and why don't you take our side and be part of history instead of being an anti-immigrant cry baby.

Thanks a lot to all members for being with us in this struggle. We have tasted our first big success this year. Credit goes to each and every IV member. We were all affected by the visa bulletin fiasco and this is our victory. This is a victory for all our members and we must rejoice.
IV had worked very hard and had been pushing for this in the background. Our flower campaign, rally and other advocacy efforts all came together and helped us at a crunch time. We thank members that sent flowers and also walked in the San Jose heat for 4 hours. All that really shows our commitment to this cause.
We are happy that our efforts are successful and IV has been able to make a difference. Please also know that during this effort, IV was extremely active and decision makers heard our voice. We cannot give out all the details but what IV members should know is that these efforts should make each one of us proud and what we can do if we have a firm resolve. We were also the first to break this news even before anyone else or media could, and continued to update our members as time passed.
IV also thanks its contributing members and it is because of their contributions we were able to continue this effort. Many thanks to the members that are contributing now after this good news.

We understand your frustration, but we would need some more info from you. Could you please look at the first post in this thread and send us your info.
We already have about 30 stories sent to us and the truth is we are in much better shape now when we go to meet senators. We can actually point out examples and not speak in general terms which makes them sit up and listen.
