I'm not writing this in my capacity as a core member, but just as a regular individual. Aman has selflessly worked towards EB immigration reform, at the cost of precious personal time with family, as well as taking vacation time in order to make the numerous trips to Washington DC. He has not asked for reimbursement for expenses incurred during numerous previous trips to DC.
The skilled professional community, those who are members of IV, and those aren't yet, must be extremely grateful to Aman for this selfless act.
He may not like me stating this, but this is true.
Several volunteers have spent hundreds of dollars out of their own pockets without disturbing IV funds for press releases, travel and so on.
One important thing: Money is an enabler for several things including operating expenses, infrastructure mobilization, etc., However, at the end of the day, solidarity and efforts count.
While IV will continue to require funds, members are encouraged to assist in other non-monetary ways as well. I understand your frustration. Believe me I have gone thru the same.
When I filed for my I-485 in 2000, the PD was current for me for 23 months in row when it got approved. Can you believe this? PD was current for whole 23 months while I-485 was pending.
One of my goals is to help my future legal immigrants. Being a US citizen gives me vote voice and power. I am open to suggestions. I would like to help my fellow legal immigrants.
I know, the wait time is long, but it is worth it every bit.

The intent of US immigration (employment or otherwise) is to import diverse population such that it benefits US in various different ways (socially, culturally, economically). Employment category comes under the larger umbrella of such goals.

Diversity is definitely not meant for EB based categories. EB immigration is purely based on merits. I think you are inventing a new "intent" here.
I remember one republican member of judiciary committee recommending to get rid of Diversity visa category all together and granting those visas to EB category while discussing the visa recapture bill.
He also proposed to reduce FB immigration and grant those visas to EB.
Why are you sounding like an anti-immigrant ? Did you already get your green card ?
Anyways bills and amendments are meant to fix laws that are outdated or irrelevant.

Just curious. Why do you claim ROW is receiving preferential treatment over India when all the countries get the same upper limit of the visas. Now if the Indians ask for more visas just because there are more Indians asking for green cards, wouldn't that be preferential treatment? :)

Hey,
I have Bachelor's computer's 3 years and MCA 2 years from IGNOU. I have over 7 years of Exp excluding frm my current company. Is EB2 possible in my case. My employer says its not cause of my education, can anybody let me know if they have done EB2 with this scenario. Appreciate your time. Thanks

When you join a state chapter or a group in your area, it is not necessary to conduct face-to-face meetings everyday/every week, although in person meetings wouldn't hurt. The idea is to create a channel to dissipate information through channels other than WWW. Believe it or not, there are lot many folks from anti-groups who lurk around just to keep an eye on us. Participating or becoming part of the group near to you and encourage others to do the same will also help to build/strength a group of like minded folks in the area who could then team-up to meet with local lawmakers from your area/state. We are a grass roots organization and we need to have a stronger grassroots in order to continue to be more effective. As I said earlier, this channel also is very useful to dissipate information which cannot be shared on world wide web.
Now a days when everybody has presidential election on their mind, immigration issue is not on the list of things to do for most lawmakers. As such, it takes time for the updates and the there are updates that cannot be disclosed on www. We continue to work on our issues in manner we have always worked in the past. And in the absence of Congress not taking up our immigration issues, it some how becomes our fault even though it is ok if some folks would show up from time to time and suggest that they have reasons not to join a google or a yahoo group. And all of a sudden the problem is with organization and the manner in which we work and then there is an urgent to create a �process�. Although you seem to be suggesting that you want all the ducks in the row and world peace issues sorted out before you will start accepting updates in exactly the manner in which you like to receive them. Is that correct? How about the idea of getting actively involved in your area and create an active chapter, which was your idea to begin with, and one I would agree is an excellent idea.
It is of'course a valid question - �what is going on�. Also it is a very general statement and one which can have a very long answer and one which can be answered in few words. If you become part of a group in your area, you will know what is going on. Please understand that a significant number of members are putting lot of effort, if others are not able to participate actively, is it not fair to ask others to help in organizing in groups in the local area and be regular communication so that action items could be handled effectively?

I am not waiting to see some success, before I join the band wagon. When you started IV a few years back, I am not sure you envisioned this many members today. Inspite of having over 25000 members, the admin fix compaign only seem to have received about 10% letters. So, What are the other members doing? Why are they not participating? what is holding them back? That is a question for everyone of us. That is something, I thought every member should reflect upon. We have around 25000 members here in IV. But, we know for a fact that there are atleast a million people waiting in line. How do we reach them and how to get them to actively participate in IV action items?

I hear people say that there is reverse brain drain. But this is not completely true. I cannot quantify in numbers but there are certainly few people, I know of, who have migrated to countries like Canada and Australia.
I will not call it as reverse brain drain but diversion of brain drain to other pastures that may be worthy from individuals standpoint.
Reasons could be endless, to name a few - stagnancy in career growth, frustration for wait for GC, inability to invest further in housing for job insecurity, longer time for family union (ageing parents), save kids from western culture, etc.. etc.
I have heard one of the above reasons, while there could be more, from people who want to vent out their frustations. But rest assured very few choose to put it to action at the end of the day.
My two cents - don't bash others. I believe that all of us go through this turmoil at some point or the other.
Let's stay focussed on what you want. Most of us, if not all, are here for better life, career growth, money ;), etc and if other countries offer better prospects and meet majority of ones expectations, most likely, we will consider the options. I think, to a certain extent, we are patriotic to our ownself or if may call - opportunist.
Given a scenario. EU Blue card gives better option (though not sure if it will :p) flow to newer pastures is inevitable and unstoppable. This may not appeal to 100% of the readers but it's one of the faces of dice.

Company tax returns can only show the NET INCOME . You need an Audited Financial Statement prepared by a CPA to show NET ASSETS
Schedule L on 1120S lists all the assets, Liabilities and Shareholders equity. Can this not be used to figure out the net current assets?? I got an RFE specifically instructing us to submit W2 and tax returns for 2006.

Though your case is weak(in my personal opinion because you seem to have entered US uninvited), A complaint against the employer may unravel some strong cases when the investigation happens.
This is from my experience:
Few years ago, some one complained against our employer about back wages and we all benefited from it. Our employer had to pay the wages for the vacations that we took (supposedly paid vacation) which they would not have paid, if the investigation had not occurred.
Though your case is weak(in my personal opinion because you seem to have entered US uninvited), A complaint against the employer may unravel some strong cases when the investigation happens.

Immigration Voice is organizing its first peaceful protest rally in San Jose, CA on July 14th in order to protest the broken system of legal high-skills immigration. This protest march is being organized to oppose the enormous visas backlogs in the employment based immigration system. This protest march is also intended to oppose the recent decision of USCIS to block the adjustment of status petitions in July resulting from an unprecedented out-of-order reversal on the part of DOS and USCIS.
Please join this rally in huge numbers to create more awareness in the Media, Congress and the Administration. We are already getting attention of Congress and the Administration due to recently published articles on the flower campaign in New York Times and Washington Post on July 11th. If you cannot join but if you know someone who lives in San Jose area and who doesn’t know about this effort, please ask him or her to join this rally. More numbers will get us more media coverage and more attention to this issue.
This rally has the potential to bring our issue to the attention of everyone, including the Silicon Valley tech employers who have a stake in the morale and productivity of the hi-tech foreign employees in their companies and their backlogged immigration.

11:00 AM: Meet at San Jose City Hall at 200 E Santa Clara St.

1) 11:30 AM: Go to the square in front of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library (150 E San Fernando St).
2) 12:30 PM: Walk towards 635 N 1st St through S 4th St, E San Carlos St, Market Street and N 1st Street.
3) 1:15 PM: Arrive at 635 N 1st St and stay till 2:00 PM
4) 2:30 PM: back to City Hall
IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:
1) Abide by the laws.
2) Stay on sidewalks.
3) Follow traffic rules, show courtesy to other pedestrians.
4) Do not block building entrances.
5) Dress Professionally. No shorts or Bermudas. Wear formal dress clothes, semi-casual or business-casual.
WHAT TO BRING:
Plenty of water, snacks and sun block (if needed).

As there are now many people who are actively posting in the group. Identify and rotate the maintenance of the membership among these members on a weekly basis.
The ideas are good and in the past we have contemplated having a paid member area on IV site too. However the biggest problem we have is - who will manage it?
We all have full time jobs and already have our hands full. Adding anything extra to the current workload will be too much work for us.
Either we hire someone to do it. And to hire we need money. We find it hard to even raise money for Lobbying every other month. There are other important areas like publicity we can look at too if we get more funds. So we cannot hire anyone to manage this.
Now can someone volunteer for it? Yes but how many people come forward with a commitment in a 25k membership? You can see from the thread

So if people are not willing to make a commitment and have their spouses to help us from home for this cause, we cannot take our ideas any further. We can only do what our limited time, funds and manpower allows.
This is a reality and is the reason why we all do not have greencards till now. Solving this greencard issue is not difficult. Its only a matter of gathering enough people and people wanting to make an effort. IV has been around for 2 years now and only 25K people have signed up. We should have had about half million signups by now and millions of dollars to spend on large scale lobbying, media publicity and several initiatives to draw the attention of lawmakers on this issue. That has not yet happened and will not happen until we all indicate how badly we want greencards.

It seems that some of us want to fight, but don't have a dedicated thread. Instead we have been hijacking other useful threads.
What I propose here is a FIGHT THREAD.
Yes, this is a copycat idea from FIGHT CLUB
How we go about:
1.) Establish a dedicated thread - just for fighting.
2.) At a pre-determined time (of day or night), fighters login.
3.) They start fighting and all posts/fights will be restricted to FIGHT THREAD only.
4.) Fight ends at a specificed time.
5.) Fighters take a break until the next schedule (may be daily or thrice a week)
6.) Fighters donot desecrate other threads, if they do, they will be banned from FIGHT THREAD.
